About Me

I am a Master’s of Public Health student living in Indiana, and I started this blog for several reasons. I have always been interested in fitness and healthy living, but it has taken me many years to learn about what being healthy really means and how to properly fuel my body. With that being said, I am by no means a professional! I have a lot to learn (that I hope to learn from you!), but I wanted to start a blog to help keep myself accountable and to connect with people with the same passions. I am getting married this December to a wonderful guy (Hi, Ryan!), and I am hoping that my blog also serves as a way for me to remember our time together leading up to our wedding and our lives after that.

I love to exercise and eat well, but I also believe in living life to the fullest. I tend to follow the 80/20 rule in my daily life. Eat healthy 80% of the time and allow yourself to splurge 20% of the time. I love the occasional (okay, daily) beer after work, and I have a sweet tooth that runs rampant. I believe in not depriving yourself of the foods you love. I try to look at food as fuel for my body….what can I eat that will help my body be the best that it can be? I was involved in sports in high school and have always been naturally thin, but when I graduated from high school, I realized that I didn’t have any fitness goals anymore or a real reason to workout other than to look good. It wasn’t until after I graduated that I realized that being healthy and exercising is so much more than just looking skinny. It’s about feeling good and feeling accomplished. I am not a natural runner (at all!), so anytime I beat a personal record for distance or time, I feel extremely accomplished. Even if I only run one mile, if I run it faster than I ever have, I’m proud of myself. I think it’s important to remember that it’s okay to be proud of yourself, even if it’s for something small.

About the Blog

Like I said, I’m hoping this blog will be a neat way to document my life. I fell in love with reading healthy living blogs a little over a year ago when I was bored at a summer job. I realized that I spent more of my time reading posts than working because I shared the same passion for health that my fellow bloggers do. I came up with the name Live Proud because my favorite mantra is “Live a Life You’re Proud Of.” I strive to do something I’m proud of everyday, even if it is something as small as running a little further than I thought I could or learning something new. I am a firm believer that every day has something good to offer, even if it is a little harder to see sometimes! My goal is to create a place that you look forward to visiting and that I create posts that make you smile, teach you something, or just merely entertain you for a few minutes. I am new to the blogging world, but I hope you’ll join me as I figure it all out! Live Proud will be my way to share food and exercise tips as well as sharing my random thoughts and daily experiences.

Who’s Who

As I mentioned earlier, I’m getting married this December! My fiance Ryan is one of the best people I have ever met, and I can’t wait to be his wife. Although Ryan doesn’t quite share my love of healthy eating and exercise, he is a good sport about indulging me and supports me as I try to create healthy recipes (avocado chocolate chip cookies, anyone?)

Ryan and I adopted a precious Lab/Shepard mix in May. Lily is the sweetest, happiest dog in the world, which is a good thing because I know absolutely nothing about owning a dog, let alone a puppy. She is a source of constant entertainment for me and Ryan. I’m sure Lily will pop up daily on the blog because I am openly obsessed with her.
